Integrate with Jabber SDK for Web
Offer real-time communications to all users of your web systems
Overview in 10 seconds
With the Jabber SDK, we can add Cisco UC capabilities into your web applications and portals using Cisco Jabber technology based on modern industry standards such as JQuery and REST.
Features available now
Jabber SDK adds communication options to web apps:
- IM & Presence(CAXL - AJAX): the Cisco AJAX XMPP Library (a JQuery-based Java Script library)
- Voice mail(CUMI - REST): Cisco Unity Connection Voicemail APIs (REST and SOAP-based web services)
- Meeting (WebEx -URL/XML): WebEx Conferencing APIs (url and xml-based web services)
Capabilities in detail
Enterprise users will no longer have to leave their web application to access communication and collaboration functions. They will be able to communicate via IM, voice, video, voice messaging and web conferencing straight from the browser of their choice, streamlining workflows and saving time and money.
How it works
Jabber SDK keeps all open communication channels in a separate browser window. This allows you to interact with contacts and use the system at the same time. You can open several browser tabs containing different pages your web application and manage your chat or calls from any of them.
You can start a chat session with several contacts from your social network simultaneously and Jabber SDK will keep each conversation in a separate tab within the chat pop-up. You can close or minimize the chat window at any time without losing track of the conversation: receiving a new instant message will open it again if it was closed or pop it up if was minimized.
Jabber SDK also provides end-users with the ability to start a chat session with more than one participant. Each user can create a new chat room and invite participants from his or her contact list. The chat room appears as a new contact in Jabber SDK contact list, so the user can access it even after the chat window has been closed. The chat room exists until its owner closes it.
You can start a voice or video call to anyone by pressing the “click-to-call” button on their profile. You can also dial a phone number directly using Jabber SDK's dialer keypad. This allows you to contact people who are not on your contact list, for example, prospective customers in your CRM system. The conversation window displays information for all active calls as well as tools to manage the ongoing conversations. You can start or stop your video streaming, mute/unmute your microphone, or end the current conversation. The video call window also contains a video preview, which enables you to preview the camera output before joining a conversation.
Extend Jabborate with Jabber Guest
Jabborate adds real-time communication options to everyone using IBM Connections inside the enterprise. In order to extend the same options to anyone outside the enterprise, we recommend Jabber Guest. Jabber Guest enables outside users to connect to specific endpoints via a web browser or a mobile device. By combining Jabber Guest to Jabborate, your enterprise will enable real-time communication for everyone: employees, customers, partners, and suppliers.
Standard Jabber SDK integrations
Jabber SDK is currently integrated (under the Jabborate moniker) with: IBM (Connections, SmartCloud); Microsoft (SharePoint Server, Office365, SharePoint Online); SAP and SAP Portal (including CRM/ERP systems); open source systems (Drupal, WordPress).
Custom Jabber SDK integrations
Jabber SDK is a set of libraries that could be integrated with any web-based system: on premise or in the cloud. Jabborate already has 80 percent of the code base ready for re-use, so speed up your web integration and contact us for a chat... or call.
